Tips on who to buy your
replacement
windows
from
Where
should I purchase my replacement windows?
When shopping for windows, select a manufacturer who produces energy
efficient products, which meets the suggested U-factor and Solar Heat
Gain Coefficient for your climate.
The manufacturer should provide a warranty, have an excellent service
reputation, and a stable company. You can check with your Better
Business Bureaus for any complaints that may have been filed against the
company. We highly suggest you purchase your windows from a manufacturer
who is a member of the Efficient Windows Collaborative.
These manufacturers have promised to participate in the National
Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) certification and labeling process,
as well as in the ENERGY STARŪ Windows program. Numerous companies also
participate in the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA);
their products will have a permanent label indicating their
participation. Other manufactures belong to the Window and Door
Manufacturer's Association (WDMA); their products will also have a
corresponding insignia. Any manufactures who is a member of one or all
of these cares about the quality and energy efficiency of their product.
