Reduce carpet and furniture fading with energy efficient windows
You can reduce fading on to carpet and furniture with energy efficient
windows.
Carpet, fabrics, paper, artwork, paints, and wood when exposed to
sunlight may fade and deteriorate. The most damaging of the suns rays
are ultraviolet (UV). To reduce UV transmissions, protective coatings
can be place on windows, which will cut UV rays by 75%. Another process
is the use of UV absorbers integrated on plastic films or us as an
interlayer with laminated glass to reduce or UV. In both cases, the UV
transmission can be cut to <1%. However, do not forget that any residual
UV light can still fade in some materials. By using Low-E coated windows
or windows that have incorporated an UV absorbing plastic layers will
limit fading of most
modern furnishings.
