Reduce carpet and furniture fading with energy efficient windows

You can reduce fading on to carpet and furniture with energy efficient windows.

Carpet, fabrics, paper, artwork, paints, and wood when exposed to sunlight may fade and deteriorate. The most damaging of the suns rays are ultraviolet (UV). To reduce UV transmissions, protective coatings can be place on windows, which will cut UV rays by 75%. Another process is the use of UV absorbers integrated on plastic films or us as an interlayer with laminated glass to reduce or UV. In both cases, the UV transmission can be cut to <1%. However, do not forget that any residual UV light can still fade in some materials. By using Low-E coated windows or windows that have incorporated an UV absorbing plastic layers will limit fading of most
modern furnishings.
